Experience & Background Information:
BASIC'S Site Coordinator, Debbie Ackerman, is origianlly from Illinois, but permanently moved to Iowa after graduating from Mount Mercy College in 2004. While working on her Social Work Degree at MMC, Debbie completed an internship with The Arc and then stayed on to work at the Summer Day Program, for the in-home services department, and even as a staff at BASIC'S. Debbie loves working with people with disabilities and can't imagine herself doing anything else.

When Debbie's not at BASIC'S she can usually be found with her husband Mike and their two dogs. She love the outdoors: taking walks, going on bike rides, and spending time on her front porch swing. She also loves to start crocheting, but then rarely finishes her projects.
