What Are Respite GetAways? Respite GetAways are a Respite option in a group setting where day-long, overnight, or weekend activities are offered and supervised by trained staff. The staff to participant ratio is contingent upon the participants and their needs.
How Are GetAways Funded? GetAways are funded as a Respite option under the Medicaid HOme and Community Based Services Waiver program (HCBS). If you receive services through one of the HCBS waivers (Mental Retardation, Brain Injury, or Ill and Handicapped) you may be eligible to attend.
How Do I Access GetAways Respite? Ideally, Respite hours should be allocated at your annual team meeting or initial intake meeting as "GetAway" Respite dollars. Choose the number of GetAway activities corresponding to the total number of hours that have ben allocated for you by your case manager. Then follow the directions for REGISTRATION. If you do not have Respite GetAway hours allocated, please contact your case manager for more information before registering.
What is the Program Fee? Any GetAway that requires The Arc to purchase tickets or extra supplies will have a minimal program fee. See the GetAway schedule for specific costs.
