Give guidance to those who need help. Today, in the United States, more than seven million people are affected by intellectual or developmental disabilities. Locally, we provide services to more than 600 individuals with disabilities, and their families.

Support individuals with disabilities and their families. Membership matters to those who receive services and to the people who care about them. It cost as little as 10 cents per day to join The Arc in its mission of advocating for people with disabilities.

Provide mentorship to those looking for a friend. As a member, you will automatically join forces with thousands of individuals across the United States. Your membership helps support local programs and services as well as strengthening The Arc's voice in addressing national, state, and local level policy issues that impact people with mental retardation and developmental disabilities.

Work to educate every person about intellectual and developmental disabilities and encourage all people to get involved in legislative change. By becoming a new member or renewing your membership with The Arc of East Central Iowa, you will make your voice heard ten times over. The voice of The Arc and its constituents is determined by the number of members it has. Each member is considered to represent ten individuals and all ten individuals count when legislators create policies or enforce budget cuts. The Arc of East Central Iowa wants to be the group that demands action and demands that the rights of the disability community be protected.
