If I Had A Million Dollars
(A spoof on the Barenaked Ladies song,
“If I Had a Million Dollars”)
By Nick Hayes and Nick Larson
If I had a million dollars
(If I had a million dollars)
Well I’d donate to The Arc
(And get a small tax deduction)
And if I had a million dollars
(And if I had a million dollars)
I’d buy a few things for The Arc
(A few novelty but mostly practical items)
And if I had a million dollars
(And if I had a million dollars)
I’d buy The Arc an exotic pet
(Like a llama or an emu)
And if I had a million dollars
I’d buy your love
If I had a million dollars
(I would buy Glen ((Muters)) a new bus)
If I had a million dollars
(A reliable vehicle to transport us.)
If I had a million dollars
We wouldn’t have to eat garlic Triscuits
(But we would eat garlic Triscuits we’d just eat more.)

Three Levels of Advocacy
Did you know that The Arc of East Central Iowa is the local chapter of The Arc of the United States? The Arc advocates for the rights and full participation of all children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Together with a network of members and affiliated chapters, The Arc improves systems of supports and services; connects families; inspires communities, and influences public policy.
At the state level, advocacy occurs with the executive and legislative branches of government, administrative agencies, school districts and other providers and provider organizations. At the national level, advocacy opportunities exist with Congress, executive branch agencies, federal courts and organizations representing entities that interact daily with people with developmental disabilities, including teachers, and those in law enforcement, housing, transportation, recreation and health care.
Local and state chapters of The Arc and its national office advocate for specific policies and programs that benefit people with developmental disabilities and their families. The Arc also educates policymakers, people with disabilities, service providers, families and others on best practices and issues that impact people with developmental disabilities and their families.
The Arc’s goal is to be a national force that creates the environment and the opportunities for people with developmental disabilities and their families to have choices as they live their lives in the community.
